Machine Basics: Tote Bag

Tutor: Terry Baker
Learn how to thread a machine, change a needle and change your stitch and speed settings. Get some practise sewing with different stitches, and starting and stopping. Leave the class having made a fully lined, boxy tote bag.

On the day of your class please make sure you leave time after your morning class, or before your afternoon class to browse our shop. Class attendees get 10% of purchases* in the shop on the day of their class. *Excludes Gift Vouchers, Sewing Machines & Classes
All our classes are non-refundable and non-transferable. We urge you to carefully check your diary prior to booking to ensure that you can attend. We also need three students enrolled on the class otherwise it is subject to cancellation. By purchasing this class you are agreeing to our full class policy.
Class Materials and Equipment
Materials are not included in the price. Please see list of materials below. It is your responsibility to prepare your materials so that you are ready to learn when the class starts. You may want to come into the shop in the days before the class and our staff will help you get together everything that you will need. Please be aware that you may not wish to purchase class materials until the minimum class number of three students has been reached.
Machine: You will need to bring your own working sewing machine (bring the manual too if you have one). We do have a limited number of shop machines that can be borrowed. These need to be booked in advance.
Fabric: 0.5m of a printed cotton 44” wide (a quilting cotton works well); 0.5m of a plain cotton of 54” wide (our Klona cotton works well); 0.25m of any scrap cotton to try out your machine stitches on; Thread: 1 x 100m reel of Gutermann Sew All or similar
Haberdashery: You may find it useful to bring your own scissors, tape measure, pins and chalk, although we will have these to borrow.
