We are excited to be offering digital patterns at Backstitch. Digital patterns are fantastic as they are cheaper than printed versions, delivered immediately, and you can print them out time and time again. However, there are some things you need to be aware of, and these are outlined below.
Delivery and Download
Digital sewing patterns are downloadable products in PDF format. There will be no P&P charge and your pattern will be available immediately. After purchase a link to the PDF Pattern will be made available in your customer account area on the Backstitch website. This link will remain live for 5 download attempts and we promise to keep the link live for at least 30 days. You are advised to save your PDF(s) promptly somewhere secure and to back up your data to ensure that you do not lose this file. It is your responsibilty to download and save these files, it is our responsibility to provide you with enough time and opportunity to download these after purchase, but we are not obliged to store them for you so please do save them promptly. Unfortunately, we cannot replace files that have been lost.
Printing and Tiling
All PDFs will include tiled pattern pieces which will require printing and tiling together at home. Patterns can be printed on either A4 or Letter size paper. You will need a home printer and a PDF viewer such as Adobe Reader.
On printing it is very important that within your software/ printer settings page scaling is turned off (or set to ‘none’) this ensures that your pattern prints at 100%. Sometimes printers will scale your document to fit on the page better, you do not want this to happen and turning page scaling off will remedy this. Before printing the whole document, print the page that has the scale indicator and double check the measurements with a ruler (it will usually be a 1” square).
Some patterns will also come with a copy shop PDF which will enable you to have your pattern professionally printed on 36" wide paper.
