Quilt Technique: Free Motion Quilting
1 x 3hr Session
Class Length: 3 hours
Number in Class: 7
Entry Level: You will need to have completed one of our ‘Machine Basics’ courses, or have similar experience with a sewing machine. This means you must be able to thread the machine on your own, wind a bobbin, and go forwards and backwards with straight stitch. Attending the Backstitch Quilt Basics: Finish Your Quilt: Baste, Quilt & Bind class would be a useful introduction, but not essential.
Materials: Not included. Please see materials list below.
Tutor: Jemma Dell
Free motion quilting is a brilliant way to finish your quilt. If you have never been brave enough to try it, or are unsure where to start, this is the class for you. It is a great way to use your sewing machine creatively. It is not difficult, you don’t even need to be ‘artistic’ to get some great results!
In this class, we will cover a range of free motion designs, including stippling, loops, stars and hearts. We will also try echo quilting, defining negative space and several other ideas depending on time and the interests of people attending the class.
Current Class Dates:
Sunday 2nd March, 10.00am - 1.00pm
