Start Knitting

Class Length: Classes are 3 hours long.
Number in Class: 7 maximum
Entry Level: No experience necessary - this class is suitable for complete beginners
Materials: Not Included: Students will need to bring needles and yarn from home or buy from the shop. Please see materials list.

This class will get you started knitting. Designed for people who have never picked up a pair of knitting needles, we will equip you with the basics of knitting in a relaxed environment.

You will learn the following: casting on, casting off, knit stitch and purl stitch and how to form these into garter stitch and stocking stitch. We introduce you to reading an pattern, counting stitches and increasing and decreasing. We'll then get started on a very basic project.

We also talk you through yarn types and weights, matching needles, tension, and choosing the right yarn for your project.

All classes are taught from our bright retail premises at Burwash Manor just outside Cambridge, and tea and biscuits are included.

All our classes are non-refundable and non-transferable.  We urge you to carefully check your diary prior to booking to ensure that you can attend.  We also need three students enrolled on the class otherwise it is subject to cancellation.  By purchasing this class you are agreeing to our full class policy.

For this class you will need a ball of yarn and a set of knitting needles to match.
Yarn: DK/Aran/Chunky
Needles: Size 4mm-5mm for DK, Size 5mm-6mm for Aran, Size 8-10mm for Chunky
