Weaving is becoming increasingly popular because it is a wonderful way to get creative with colour and texture. Weaving can be used to create wall-hangings, bags, cushions and more.
In this beginners’ weaving class we will use a simple tapestry loom. You will find out how to: warp the loom; start and end each weft; create a basic tabby weave; make rya knots** and loops. We will go on to look at other ways to create textures using a variety of yarns and weaving techniques depending on time and the interests of the group.
The loom will be yours to keep so that you can continue your weaving project at home after the class.
Current Class Dates:
Saturday 22nd March, 10am - 2.30pm with half an hours break for lunch

** Rya Knots are what you most often find at the bottom of a weave to create a fringe. However, the rya knot can be placed where ever to create a more unique and interesting composition. These knots are also used when making a shaggy carpet texture, because the knot holds the thread ends in place.
