Have you seen that Fancy Tiger Crafts (a super craft shop in Denver USA) have brought out their second pattern? The first was the Sailor Top (more on that later) and the second is the Fen Dress and Top. The patterns arrived with us last week and they are flying out.
We were lucky to be sent an advance copy of the pattern so that shop staff could sew it up for our sample rail. Both Heather and I made one. Heather made the dress and I made the top. We are both very happy!
Heather made the dress with the round colour and short sleeves. She used this gorgeous check brushed suiting with Peppered Cotton Moss for the neckband and pocket lining.
I made the top with the v-neck, shirt-tail hem and long sleeves. I used the oh-so-heavenly Free Way Mezame double gauze from Nani Iro.
This is a very simple quick sew. Neither of us made any alterations. There are so many options to this pattern that it will make a multitude of useful clothes. The details are fab - I love the shape of the sleeves and the darts, pockets and gathers on the dress.
One point... I think if I make this again, and I certainly hope to, I would add a couple of inches to the length of the top. At the moment you'll all get a flash of my tummy (which is no longer a feature to show off!) if I reach for something on a high shelf or decide to throw my hands in the air like I just don't care. I do have a long yellow vest which I plan to wear underneath this version so fear not.
