I started this quilt back in February, just before I got the keys to the new Burwash shop. Some might say a nutty time to start a quilt, but hey, when the moment grabs you...
I have made this free Spinning Stars Pattern from Anna Maria Horner before, but with a completely different set of fabrics and achieving a totally different look. You can look at that Summersville Spinning Stars quilt here. I have realised that I do tend to repeat quilt patterns quite a lot. The process of making one, will give me ideas and questions about the next.
The fabrics used are mostly the Bike Path and Corsage prints from the Sun Print collection by Alison Glass. This is such a juicy bright pallette, we still have a fair bit of these in the shop. The Black text print is from Architextures but we have no more that now.
The backing is Linen/ Cotton Blend Charcoal. I love backing in this linen blend and have done it a lot now. It gives a great weight and texture. Then it is bound in Onyx Grunge. Grunge by Basic Grey for Moda Fabrics has just pipped Sketch to the top spot as the best binding fabric for me. I used a black cotton/ polyester mix wadding for this to avoid the small amount of white pull that you can get coming through in the quilting process (we sell wadding in the Burwash shop but not online). Then quilted in Aurifil 40wt 2692 Black.
