The Pauline Alice Saler Jacket pattern has a classic preppy style. It is a tailored jacket, so is close fitting and lined, partially interfaced and has princess seams. Details include welt pockets with flaps, shoulder pads and two-piece sleeves with button vent. Fabrics recommended for the Saler jacket are medium weight woven fabrics like wool crepe, tweed, gabardine, flannel, or denim. Take a peek at the 'Suiting and Mid Weight Wovens', 'Linens' or 'Denim and Canvas' sections of the Backstitch web site for inspiration.

The Pauline Alice Reina Shirt is romantic and feminine and has two pretty versions to choose from. Both versions flare out slightly at the bottom, with a longer back. Reina is gathered at both the front and back, has loops for fastenings and a deep V-neckline. In view A (see the navy blouse in the top image), the neckline is finished with a tie, with long and wide sleeves gathered into a contoured cuff. In view B, the neckline is finished with a mandarin collar, with short sleeves and pockets. A lightweight woven fabric with drape is recommended for the Reina Shirt, such as cotton batiste, silk, rayon/viscose or crepe. The 'Viscose Dress' section of our site is the place to head for fabric for this shirt.
[caption id="attachment_1293" align="alignright" width="630"] The Pauline Alice Safor Skirt sewing pattern[/caption]
The Pauline Alice Safor Skirt is a modern take on the classic pencil skirt. With a faux wrap style and asymmetrical panels, its high waist and hip yoke enhance feminine curves. The Safor skirt also has two views - a short skirt with pockets, or a knee-length version with contrasting panels (see the two-tone blue skirt at the top). Recommended fabrics for this pattern are medium weight woven fabrics such as cotton, gabardine, denim, linen, or even leather for the adventurous!
Another recent pattern to be launched by Pauline Alice, that unfortunately missed the bloggy news from Backstitch, is the Seda Dress. Since it's rather gorgeous and glamorous, I thought I'd tell you about it now. View A is off-the-shoulder with short sleeves, has a lined bodice with hip yoke and a gathered skirt. View B has a contrasting bodice yoke, is unlined, has elbow length sleeves and a gathered skirt with inseam pockets. Use light to medium weight woven fabrics such as cotton, linen, chambray, rayon, silk, or even lace.
