Hello! I'm Alice and I'd like to welcome you to the new Backstitch blog.  The new website has been in the pipeline for quite a while now, so it's really exciting (and slightly nerve-wracking) to actually get it live.  Hop over and have a good old browse in the shop, and make sure you stick the new blog address into...

Now, I have to admit that I do not consider myself a dressmaker.  I am, however, happy to call myself a quilter: flat finished work, square edged pieces and stable fabrics I can do but I've never really grabbed the dressmaking thing.  I think it just scared me a bit... all those curves and notches and fitting issues, and then what if you try it on and you don't like it?  I mean, the amount of stuff that I try on in changing rooms that I don't like is way more than the stuff that I do. Believe it or not this quilt was started as part of the Spinning Stars Quilt Along. However, as I am a fully signed up member of the Slow-Quilt Movement (is there such a thing?) I never so much quilt 'along' as quilt 'a while after'.  And then once the thing is 'slow-quilted' it then takes a while for it to be 'slow-blogged' (now that definitely is a thing).
