We've a new class and a new teacher!  We welcome Clare to the Backstitch gang and she brings with her a whole lotta stitchy knowledge. Clare's first class is focused around this striking block: Gemology.  The class uses the block to introduce students to the technique of foundation piecing.  This technique is where you machine stitch fabrics to a paper template to create complex and detailed shapes. The paper pieces are later removed. It's a great technique if you don’t enjoy accurate cutting.
