Merchant and Mills patterns are great. This is now the second one that I have made. I don't make many clothes (it's a time thing), but this Dress Shirt is the second Merchant and Mills pattern that I've gone for. I think it is the wear-ability of the patterns. They are casual and simple designs but equally elegant. That casual style really appeals to me... I'm a jeans and trainers kinda girl!
The making of a shirt was a good challenge for me, and in a big check gave me some pattern matching to get my teeth into. I have to say the pattern matching is pretty hot... I've failed to take a picture of the side seams so you will have to trust me. I made a couple of changes: I shorted the length and also the front bib. I cut the back yoke and the front bib on the bias to add interest with the check pattern of the fabric.
The fabric is a gorgeous quality lightweight suiting in a cotton/ linen mix. We have just received delivery of a brown and navy colourway too which you can find here.
