A Quilt for Christmas
A Quilt for Christmas
It took me a while to come around to the idea of making a Christmas quilt. I don't know why it took me so long. But I suddenly got it... a quilt that you keep in the Christmas box, that comes out every year, specifically for snuggling under on the sofa during the festive period. I am imagining watching Christmas movies and eating mince pies.
I started this quilt about a year ago, and of course it was not finished in time for Christmas 2021, but it is finished for this season. I used the Lewis and Irene collection Hygge Glow which is a cute scandi collection with glow in the dark elements. We still have a fair bit of this collection available, as well as a full bundle, and all sorts of other delicious Christmas quilting cotton collections.
The pattern I used is a simple one from an old book I have called Hand Quilted with Love by Sarah Fielke. I wanted a quick (ha!) project which would showcase the fabric prints and this does the job rather well. I pieced the back from some larger offcuts of our linen/cotton blend fabric, which is a favourite thing of mine to do. I then quilted it in off centre concentric circles.
We sell all our quilting cotton collections in fat quarter bundles as well as off the bolt. There are a number of fabulous Christmas collections available in our made up bundles. Take a look and see if you can be inspired to make a Christmas quilt for some festive movie watching, if not for Christmas 2022 then maybe for Christmas 2023!
