Finally, are long asked for workshop timetable is starting to materialise on the Backstitch website and the Burwash Manor chalkboard.
You can take a look at the 'Classes' area on our website for details. We have got some really exciting dressmaking classes up there and some beginner 'how to use a sewing machine' type classes too. Quilting, Embroidery, and more kids classes will be coming shortly.
Amongst the workshops on offer is 'Make a... Wiksten Tova', 'Make a... Ice Cream Dress', Make a... Socialite Dress' and 'Make a... Briar Knit Top'. These four patterns are extremely popular in the Backstitch shop and it is brilliant that our new resident dressmaking tutor, Terry Baker, will be walking students through the making of these garments on our brand spanking new machines.
Want to get cracking immediately? We have a 'Machine Basics: Tote Bag' class on Monday morning and the first part of our 'Make a... Briar Knit Top' on Thursday. The Tote Bag class is perfect for those who are either total beginners or just want to get their hand back in on a machine, and the Briar class is a winner as you leave having made a great knit fabric t-shirt or jumper.
All workshops are held at our Burwash Manor shop in Barton just outside Cambridge.
